Professional sportsmen are more interested in making money than playing the game. Do you agree?

I agree to a lot of extent that the passion of playing among the sportsmen is diminishing as the lust for money is increasing among the players and the money received differs from game to game. Nowadays everyone hankers after money and professional sportsmen are no exception. Sports is the only bread and butter they have but most, if not all, players are increasingly sidelining their duties, to play for their national team at first priority.
In today’s world, sportsmen prefer to play in different leagues or do modeling or receive sponsors from different famous branded companies in order to accumulate huge influxes of money in order to support their ever increasing extravagant lifestyles. These deviate them from their original responsibilities.
I am also in the opinion that by playing for the national teams, the players do not receive as much money as they would by playing in a league. To counter this, the national boards should try to raise the funds given to the players. This would lessen the excuse made by players that they do not get enough funds by playing for the national teams. This is why they play in different leagues and mostly become unfit or injured when it comes to play in the national teams. The players who are unable to play in leagues revert to illegal means which could be intentionally losing a match in match fixing or not perform well to receive money from gamblers. This means that for the sake of money, they betray and sell out their own nations.
The best players who become brand ambassadors or get sponsors as well as those who are paid huge sums of money just for appearing in an advertisement or coaching a rich person’s child for sometime prefer to do these rather than playing the game. They get money by just sitting in home and the sum they get is many times greater than the amount received when they play for their respective nations. This greediness encourages them to stay at home.
This is why I am in the opinion that money has become the most important thing for most of the sportsmen who do not even feel remorse when they double cross their own nations and people.

Jealousy

“I hate myself!” said a seventy year old guy to himself who was sitting in a corner of the freezing prison cellar. Farooq was recollecting his sad memories which had made him loose everything in life. He knew that none of this would have happened if he hadn’t become jealous.
Forty-five years back, he fell in love with a beautiful girl named Reem. Farooq would have done anything for her but she loved Farooq’s best friend, Sameer. Farooq and Sameer were best friends since childhood, but the feeling of jealousy shattered this strong relationship completely. Like a normal person would have done, Farooq proposed to Reem but she refused the proposal and told Farooq that she loved Sameer and when Sameer proposed to her, she gladly accepted it as was expected. It was the worst moment of Farooq’s life and it was as if the land under his feet had been pulled away. For him, it meant the end of the world. This was a heart rending moment for him and a fire lit in his heart against Sameer.
Farooq did not show any sign of malice towards Sameer but deep inside, the fire was intensifying in heat. Whenever he saw them together, the fire of jealousy enraged him. He started plotting against the two young love birds and finally devised an evil plan to separate the young lovers.
The plan was to invite Sameer and Reem to a dinner than force Reem to give up Sameer but if she does not, than he would murder Sameer. When Farooq gave the engaged couple the invitation, they gladly accepted it thinking that their friend was happy for them.
At the given date, Reem arrived with Sameer in his car at the venue where Farooq had invited them to. When they entered the room Farooq was waiting in, he greeted them and told them with a forced smile, “It is a great pleasure for me that you two could come. Please have a seat.” locking the door behind them. He then took out a pistol from his pocket and pointed it at Sameer and asked Reem that whom she loved more to which she replied in low and scared voice, ”Sameer”. Enraged by this reply, Farooq loaded the pistol and shot a bullet on Sameer’s heart. Reem screamed as the lifeless body of Sameer fell on the floor. She rushed towards him and wept for sometime after which she started laughing out loud. When Farooq saw this, he knew that she had gone insane. He came to his senses when he realized what heinous act he had committed after which he called the police.
After a while, the police arrived and after breaking in the door, they arrested Farooq on charges of committing a murder. A lively group of friends became ruined just because of jealousy. Tears started running down his old wrinkled face as he regretted his past.
